5 Things to Watch

  1. Radnor's November ballot is now set. The quiet May 19 primary locked in uncontested matchups for Congress, the state House, and governor that residents will decide on November 3.
  2. A neighboring Main Line incumbent fell. Longtime state Rep. Greg Vitali lost the 166th District primary, a result outside Radnor's own 168th District but close to home.
  3. The Radnor Hunt Races will go on. A newly formed committee is set to take over the steeplechase for its 96th running in 2027 after the Brandywine Conservancy steps away.
  4. Wayne's plein air show is on the walls. The 18th annual juried exhibition runs at the Wayne Art Center through June 20.
  5. Two civic dates anchor the week ahead. The Memorial Day parade on May 25 and the RTSD board meeting expected May 27 lead the local calendar.
Midweek Update · Elections
Radnor's November Ballot Set After Quiet May 19 Primary
With most local races uncontested, Pennsylvania's primary mainly confirmed the matchups voters will see on November 3.

Pennsylvania held its 2026 primary on Tuesday, May 19, and for Radnor the practical result was a set of confirmed November matchups rather than any surprises at the top of the ticket. Most races touching the township were uncontested, so the day functioned largely to establish the field for the November 3 general election. The races set for Radnor span Congress, the state House, and the governor's office.

In the Fifth Congressional District, which includes all of Delaware County, incumbent Democrat Mary Gay Scanlon is set to face Republican Nick Manganaro. In the 168th state House District, which covers Radnor, incumbent Democrat Lisa A. Borowski will meet Republican Kathryn Buckley. Borowski has held the 168th seat since December 2022 and previously served as a Radnor Township commissioner and a Radnor Township School District board member.

At the top of the ballot, incumbent Democratic Governor Josh Shapiro and Republican nominee Stacy Garrity, the state Treasurer, were each effectively unopposed in their primaries and now advance to a November contest. Statewide coverage of the primary noted the winners and losers across Pennsylvania, with the marquee general-election lineup largely settled.

Official Delaware County results, including any Radnor turnout figures, were not yet available, so this edition reports only that the relevant races were uncontested and that the November matchups are now set. Vote totals and margins for local contests will be reported once certified results are published.

Regional Context: Vitali Ousted in Neighboring 166th

In a result from a neighboring Main Line district rather than Radnor's own, longtime Democratic state Rep. Greg Vitali lost the 166th District primary to Judy Trombetta by a margin of 62 percent to 38 percent, according to City & State Pennsylvania. Trombetta is president of the Haverford Township Board of Commissioners. Radnor sits in the 168th District, so the 166th outcome does not change Radnor's own legislative matchup, but it reshapes representation in an adjacent stretch of the Main Line.

Radnor Hunt Races to Continue Under New Committee

The Radnor Hunt Races will continue even after the Brandywine Conservancy steps away as operator and beneficiary, Savvy Mainline reported on May 20. A newly formed Radnor Hunt Races Committee, organized under the existing Radnor Hunt Foundation, a 501(c)(3), is set to take over beginning with the 96th running in 2027, with most proceeds directed to the Willistown Conservation Trust.

The races are held in Willistown Township, Chester County, on the grounds of the Radnor Hunt, not in Radnor Township. The Brandywine Conservancy had served as the event's operator and primary beneficiary for more than four decades; Savvy Mainline puts that tenure at 46 years, while the Conservancy's own announcement that it would pass the baton describes 45 years.

According to Savvy Mainline, the new committee is being led by Janice Murdoch, and event planner Kathy Warden has joined it. Those personnel details were attributed to that outlet and were not independently confirmed by other reporting at press time.
