Waverly Heights Presents 208-Unit Sketch to Radnor Planning Commission

Gladwyne senior-living operator Waverly Heights is preparing to purchase a 43-acre campus at 452 S. Roberts Road from The Haverford School and presented a tentative sketch plan to the Radnor Planning Commission on August 3 for a life-care residence. The plan calls for 208 multi-family units across 15 buildings and 16 twin homes across 8 buildings, retaining the existing mansion as a leasing office. Attorney Jamie Jun said Waverly expects to file its zoning application by end of that week for a September Zoning Hearing Board slot; The Haverford School had previously acquired the property from Gemma Services for $19.88 million.

Township Town Hall on Magisterial-Court Relocation Set for September

Radnor Township will hold a public forum in early September on the proposal to relocate Delaware County Magisterial District Court 32-2-43 from Newtown Square to 405 W. Wayne Avenue, according to a township advisory reported August 5. Vol. I, No. 19 reported the July 20 introduction of Ordinance 2026-19, authorizing the $1.45 million purchase; the town hall date and time are not yet posted.

Delaware County Warns Residents of Planning and Zoning Permit Scam

Delaware County officials issued a public advisory Aug. 5 warning of an email scheme in which scammers impersonate local planning and zoning offices to collect fraudulent permit fees. The county says legitimate emails from Delco officials end in @co.delaware.pa.us and asks residents to verify any communication through phone numbers listed at DelcoPA.gov; the FBI advises anyone targeted to file a report at ic3.gov.

Radnor Launches $100,000 Community Grant Program

The Board of Commissioners announced the Radnor Township Community Grant Program on August 7, with a $100,000 pool for the inaugural 2027 funding cycle. Eligible applicants must be registered 501(c)(3) nonprofits based in Radnor Township with more than 50% of their programming serving Radnor residents; the application window opens August 10 and closes September 14. Ward 5 Commissioner Moira Mulroney is quoted in the release saying the program doubles the roughly $50,000 historically awarded to community groups.

No new filings this week for the Dahlia restaurant project at 385 W. Lancaster Ave.; the July 16 Zoning Hearing Board parking variance and July 22 through 31 regional coverage were reported in Vol. I, Nos. 19 and 20.

Delaware County Council Adopts Walk Roll Delco Active Transportation Plan

Delaware County Council adopted the Walk Roll Delco Active Transportation Plan in a resolution reported August 7, following a public process that referenced 1,035 crashes involving a pedestrian or bicyclist between 2018 and 2022. The plan identifies 24 miles of shared lanes, 4 miles of bike lanes, 61 miles of paved trails, and 3,845 miles of sidewalk in the existing county network, and proposes 261.4 miles of new connections. County Planning Director Gina Burritt is quoted saying the plan "prioritizes safety, accessibility and comfort for pedestrians and cyclists of all ages and abilities."

Radnor Memorial Library, in partnership with Chanticleer Garden, held its garden-themed "Nature Play at the Park" read-aloud at Odorisio Park on August 5; the same program continues at Clem Macrone Park on Wednesday, August 20 at 4:00 p.m.

Pomelo Rooftop Terrace Opens Atop The Brandywine August 8

Pomelo Rooftop Terrace opened Saturday, August 8 at 165 King of Prussia Road atop The Brandywine, a Marriott Tribute Portfolio hotel. The 136-seat venue serves seasonal small plates and cocktails; weekend brunch launches August 22. Reservations are on OpenTable or via (484) 584-0445.

Delco Republicans File Supreme Court Petition on Council Structure; Ballot Effort Falls Short

Three Delaware County voters filed a King's Bench petition with the Pennsylvania Supreme Court on August 1 asking the court to rule that the county's five-member at-large council structure violates the state constitution's "free and equal elections" clause. A parallel petition drive to place a referendum on the November ballot fell short of the 25,116 signatures required by the August 4 deadline, per Delaware County Republican Chair Frank Agovino.

SEPTA New Bus Network Phase 1 Begins August 23 and 24

SEPTA begins Phase 1 of its New Bus Network on Sunday, August 23 with additional changes on Monday, August 24. Route 105 is extended to Paoli Hospital for some trips and Route 106 is discontinued, per SEPTA's Phase 1 change table.

Radnor Police Investigating July 25 Villanova Burglary, July 17 Land Rover Tire Theft

Radnor police continue investigating a July 25 burglary on the 700 block of Newtown Road in Villanova and the July 17 theft of four sets of rims and tires from Land Rover of the Main Line at 325 East Lancaster Avenue. Tips can be sent through rpdsocialmedia@radnor.org. The charges, when filed, are allegations and have not been proven in court.

RTSD Is One of 500 Districts Sharing $565M Pennsylvania Supplemental Education Funding

Pennsylvania's 500 school districts, including Radnor Township, are dividing $565 million in supplemental education funding this year to close "adequacy gaps" and ease tax burdens, per Spotlight PA's August 5 report; each district receives a minimum guaranteed $50,000. Statewide, lawmakers have added more than $1.6 billion in supplemental education funds over the past three budgets, per the state's 2026-27 property-tax-reduction allocations page.
