Delaware County Confirms Cyber Attackers Accessed Network Data During June 26 Incident

County Executive Director Barbara O'Malley told council on Aug. 20 that forensic investigation of the June 26 cyber attack confirmed the attackers "were able to access data maintained within the network" and that the county is still reviewing what data was involved, The Delaware County Daily Times reported Aug. 21. O'Malley said the county will notify any individuals whose personal information was affected as Pennsylvania law requires.

Pennsylvania Publishes School-by-School Vaccination Data; All Radnor Schools Clear 95% MMR Threshold

The Pennsylvania Department of Health's new interactive school-immunization tool, reported for Radnor Township by Patch on Aug. 17, shows every RTSD public school at or above the 95% MMR rate that public-health officials describe as the herd-immunity threshold. Ithan Elementary kindergarten reports the district's lowest MMR rate at 95.1%; Radnor High School's twelfth-grade rate is 99.6%.

Neighbors Push Back on District Court Plan at Aug. 17 Board Meeting; September Town Hall Set

Residents used the Aug. 17 Board of Commissioners public-comment period to press commissioners to reconsider the plan to purchase 405 W. Wayne Ave. for the county magisterial court, The Philadelphia Inquirer reported Aug. 21, with resident Diane Edbril calling the proposal "an idiotic solution" and "ridiculous." Commissioner Jack Larkin, as quoted by Main Line Media News on Aug. 23, told attendees the process is "incredibly early" and said a public town hall will be held in September before any sale or lease is finalized.

Radnor Awarded $403,127 State Grant for Clyde and Sproul Intersection Signal and Pedestrian Project

State Representative Lisa Borowski announced on August 19 that PennDOT selected Radnor Township for a $403,127 Multimodal Transportation Fund grant to modernize the Clyde Road and Sproul Road intersection. Scope in the release includes vehicle detection with emergency preemption, replaced mast arms, LED indicators, a new signal controller, battery backup, ADA-compliant ramps with pushbuttons, and pedestrian countdown timers.

Villanova Student Move-In Brings Traffic Delays to Radnor This Week

Radnor Patch reported Aug. 18 that Villanova University's Main Campus move-in began Wednesday, Aug. 19, with township officials advising drivers to expect delays and closures on Conestoga Road and adjacent streets around campus. Traffic activity is expected to remain heavy through the weekend as move-in continues and campus events run Friday through Sunday.

Ordinance 2026-20 Introduced Aug. 17: Highland Ave. Handicap Parking

The Aug. 17 Board of Commissioners agenda listed Ordinance 2026-20 for introduction, designating a handicap parking space on the west side of Highland Avenue. Introduction opens the public-comment period before a future adoption vote.

Villanova Opens 112-Acre Cabrini Campus in Radnor After $100M Renovation

Main Line Media News reported Aug. 19 that Villanova University led a media tour of the 112-acre Cabrini Campus following a two-year, $100 million renovation, and that 900 sophomores will live in six residence halls and one apartment-style building on the site. KYW Newsradio reported Aug. 18 that 13 shuttle buses will ferry students between the Cabrini site and the Main Campus, roughly 1.5 miles away; the Rev. Peter M. Donohue is quoted describing the project as a response to Cabrini University's request.

Stile by Per Lei Boutique to Open Aug. 26 at Gateway Shopping Center in Wayne

Patch reported Aug. 19 that Stile by Per Lei plans to open its Wayne location on Tuesday, Aug. 26 at Gateway Shopping Center, 125 Swedesford Road. Founder Candice Caprice is quoted as saying the new store follows customers who already shop the brand's Newtown Square and Suburban Square locations.

Delaware County Park Police Use Drone to Arrest Delco Woods Intruder

The Delaware County Daily Times reported Aug. 21 that Delaware County Park Police caught two men breaking into a facility at the Delco Woods (former Don Guanella) site in Marple Township and used a Marple police drone with infrared capability to locate one suspect who fled into the woods. The two men were arraigned before District Judge Benjamin Johns and held on 10% of $30,000 and $15,000 bail respectively, with a Sept. 3 preliminary hearing scheduled.

Radnor High School Ranks Seventh in Pennsylvania in U.S. News Rankings

Radnor Patch reported Aug. 18 that U.S. News & World Report's 2026-2027 Best High Schools list ranks Radnor High School seventh in Pennsylvania and 341st nationally, and 97th among STEM high schools. The rankings weighed data from the 2023-24 school year, when 72% of Radnor High School seniors had taken an AP class and the graduation rate was 97%.

RTSD Calendar: Teacher In-Service Aug. 31 Through Sept. 4; K-12 First Day Sept. 8

The RTSD 2026-27 calendar approved by the School Board sets new-teacher induction for Aug. 25-26 and teacher in-service days for Aug. 31 through Sept. 4, with K-12 classes beginning Tuesday, Sept. 8 following the Labor Day holiday on Sept. 7. The board's next business meeting is set for Tuesday, Aug. 25 at 7:00 p.m.

Radnor and Wayne Firms Among 12 Delco Companies on 2026 Inc. 5000

Delco.today reported Aug. 18 that Radnor-based Somersault Operating placed No. 832 on the 2026 Inc. 5000 with 414% revenue growth from 2022 to 2025, and Wayne-based IHKWIP placed No. 1,267 with 277% growth. Twelve Delaware County firms in total made the annual list of fastest-growing privately held companies.

SEPTA New Bus Network Phase 1 Rolls Out Aug. 23 and 24

The SEPTA New Bus Network Phase 1 page confirms most changes take effect Sunday, Aug. 23, with the Route 105 extension and Route 106 elimination on Monday, Aug. 24. Billy Penn's Aug. 19 explainer notes the overhaul touches 30 routes overall, eliminating seven and adding two; no Radnor Township bus route is eliminated or introduced in this phase.

Fair Acres Nurses Reach One-Year Contract Extension With Delaware County

The Delaware County Daily Times reported Aug. 19 that unionized employees at Fair Acres Geriatric Center voted 99% in favor of a one-year contract extension with Delaware County that includes a 2% retroactive raise, running July 1 through June 30, 2027. Delaware County Council was scheduled to vote on approving the agreement at its Aug. 20 regular meeting.

Spotlight PA publishes a searchable tool for the $565 million state adequacy and tax-equity funding distributed to Pennsylvania's 500 school districts. Radnor Township School District is one of the 500 districts allocated a share of the pool.

PA Capital-Star reports that the Pennsylvania legislature may again defer action on mass transit funding this session. SEPTA's New Bus Network Phase 1 rollout begins in the Philadelphia region Aug. 23 and 24.

WHYY reports that Pennsylvania health teams are stressing back-to-school vaccines as measles cases persist statewide. The Delaware County Health Department is named in the report; every Radnor Township public school reports MMR above the 95% herd-immunity threshold.

The Delaware County Daily Times reports that Tinicum, Marple, Newtown, and Concord townships are moving to amend zoning ordinances to address data centers, with items on the Aug. 21 Delaware County Planning Commission agenda. Radnor Township has not posted a data-center zoning proposal.

The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that Radnor Township is weighing the $1.45 million purchase of the shuttered St. George Hunt Memorial Veterinary Hospital at 405 W. Wayne Ave. to house the county magisterial district court, with the county to lease the building over 10 years.
