The Delaware County Health Department is evaluating three probable human West Nile virus cases and has identified the virus in more than 100 mosquito groups trapped in the county this season, Hoodline reported Sept. 10. West Nile has been detected in mosquito traps at Encke Park in Radnor Township, and the county's West Nile page advises residents to drain standing water and use EPA-registered repellent. The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection has recorded virus-carrying mosquitoes in 46 of Pennsylvania's 67 counties.

Radnor Sets Sept. 22 Town Hall on Future of Magisterial District Court

Radnor Township will hold a town hall at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22 in the Radnorshire Room at the Township Building, 301 Iven Ave., according to the township notice. The meeting follows the Sept. 3 decision not to acquire 405 W. Wayne Avenue for Magisterial District Court 32-2-43; commissioners said they still intend to bring the court back into the township.

Main Line Health Awarded $1 Million State Grant for Taylor Hospital

State Rep. David Delloso announced Sept. 16 that Main Line Health will receive $1 million in state funding for a future project at Taylor Hospital in Ridley Park, Patch reported. Delloso's office later clarified that "the reopening of Taylor Hospital's ER hasn't been confirmed yet"; the hospital closed in 2025 following the bankruptcy of Prospect Medical Holdings.

Board of Commissioners Met Sept. 14

The Board of Commissioners met Sept. 14 with an agenda that included Resolution 2026-103 (2027 Minimum Municipal Obligation certification), Resolution 2026-106 ($155,000 for parklet improvements), Resolution 2026-107 (Seasonal Banner Program), and legislative memoranda on the Oak Hill amended land development plan, plus Ordinance 2026-17 zoning-code amendments on nonconforming uses. Sept. 16 Public Meeting on Energy Benchmarking Ordinance

The township held a public meeting Sept. 16 for owners of large buildings on a proposed energy benchmarking ordinance. The Environmental Advisory Council previously received a regional benchmarking presentation from DVRPC and Green Building United, with municipal buildings to report first and larger commercial and multifamily properties phasing in by 2028 under the model ordinance.

Radnor Police Log: Attempted Vehicle Theft Sept. 10; Oak Lane Storm-Door Damage Sept. 12

The Radnor Police Department reported that an unknown subject attempted to steal a vehicle at 4:56 a.m. Sept. 10 in the parking lot of 1030 E. Lancaster Ave., the Radnor House Condominiums, and that the window of a storm door in the 400 block of Oak Lane was cracked at 1:30 a.m. Sept. 12, per the Radnor Crime and Police Alerts page.

Eastern University Sexual-Assault Case: Preliminary Hearing Sept. 24

The Delaware County District Attorney's charges filed the week of Sept. 7 against three defendants in the alleged Feb. 1 incident at an Eastern University dormitory in St. Davids proceed to a preliminary hearing Sept. 24. The charges are allegations and have not been proven in court.
